On the occasion of the bicentenary of his death, Arcana concludes
the first complete recording on period instruments of Joseph Haydn’s
authenticated string quartets.
The project consists of 19 CDs presented in eight 2-CD digipack
(volumes 1-8) and one 3-CD digipack (volume 9).

2009. The
legendary Viennese pianist Paul Badura-Skoda
has issued a new recording of five piano masterworks by Joseph
Haydn, on the occasion of the bicentenary of his death. Johann
Schantz’s fortepiano from Badura-Skoda’s collection, which has
been used for this recording, is the most appropriate instrument
available today for interpreting Haydn’s music. In a letter to
Marianne von Genzinger dated 4 July 1790, Haydn refers to Johann
Schantz as “the best pianoforte maker”.
